New Legislation Extends Emergency Unemployment Compensation

Posted on Tuesday, November 10th, 2009 at 9:31 am

New legislation signed into law by President Obama will extend the amount of time a person can claim unemployment benefits by twenty weeks. If you or someone you love is having difficulty receiving the unemployment benefits you deserve, the workers compensation lawyers of Levinson & Axelrod may be able to help.

Under the new law, the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development will file a claim to extend Emergency Unemployment Compensation benefits for approximately 65,000 New Jersey citizens who have run out of other state and federal benefits. These individuals will receive notification in the mail about their eligibility for the program.

If you haven’t been receiving the unemployment or workers compensation benefits you’re owed, contact the New Jersey workers compensation attorneys of Levinson & Axelrod by calling 800-346-5529.
