NY resident forced to pay restitution for workers' compensation payments

Posted on Wednesday, March 10th, 2010 at 9:13 am

The New York Insurance State Fund successfully forced a former Broome County woman to pay nearly $36,000 in restitution for workers’ compensation payments she collected while claiming to be unable to work. The woman was asked to repay the company after she was found working at a Walgreens in Virginia. According to sources familiar with the story, the woman had been collecting workers’ compensation payments for approximately five years.

If you have been injured on the job, you may be eligible for workers’ compensation benefits. It is important to consult an experienced attorney if you have been wrongly denied benefits or if you would like to know more about your legal options.
