Worker killed after roof collapse

Posted on Thursday, July 8th, 2010 at 6:49 am

A 35-year-old B&W employee was killed after a portion of a roof fell and crushed the man in a workplace accident.

The man was working to place columns in a building that would support the roof. As the workers built this a 20-by-20 section of the roof collapsed onto the man and he was killed instantly.

Other employees were also injured in the accident, chunks of concrete fell on one man as he was trapped in the collapsed building for nearly two hours. Another employee was treated for head injury but later released.

Workplace accidents can cause serious injury and harm to everyone involved, our thoughts are with the friends and family of the victim.
