A Florida man is currently living with irreversible brain damage after suffering from complications of a botched gastric bypass surgery. The surgery took place in 2007 and shortly after the procedure was completed, the man started dealing with several injuries. The negligence and carelessness of the doctors was behind the worsening of the complications.
The 32-year-old man can no longer take care of himself. He is housed in a wheelchair and needs constant attention throughout the day to complete minute activities, such as bathing and eating. He filed a medical malpractice lawsuit against the hospital where his surgery occurred, citing negligence.
The jury in the medical malpractice lawsuit sided with the victim and decided on a $177 million verdict. Although the malpractice victim is happy about the outcome of the lawsuit, he is still devastated about his current situation and would gladly take back the lawsuit if he could reverse the effects of the weight-loss surgery.
