The Cornell Daily Sun reports that a female employee of Cornell University injured by a piece of equipment belonging to the university’s wrestling team is locked in a battle with the university over how much workers compensation she will receive for her injuries. A New Jersey state court has confirmed a workers compensation ruling requiring the city to pay for the treatment of a city hall employee who developed a mental condition because of her job. The states of New Jersey and Ohio have gotten a $400 million settlement from the company which provided insurance for state pension and workers compensation programs. According to a new study by a Congressional watchdog agency, workplace injuries are going under-reported by company doctors looking to save their businesses money. The report was compiled by the U.S. Government Accountability Office and asserts that safety regulators have been dropping the ball in regards to ensuring the accuracy of injury reports.
