The Iowa Supreme court has ruled on a workers compensation case that was filed after the death of a volunteer firefighter in 2005.

The incident occurred when the firefighter’s boss fell into a manure pit and was overcome by fumes so the man tried to go into the pit and save him, but he was also overcome by the methane fumes.

Officials from the workers compensation commission ruled that the man was working as a farm hand and a volunteer firefighter when the accident occurred because when he was notified of the emergency he was in the capacity of a firefighter.

Workplace accidents can change the lives of everyone involved, our condolences are with the friends and family of the victims in the accident.

According to the report, the state’s workers’ compensation programs pay about $1.5 billion to injured workers every year. Unfortunately, not everyone receives the workers’ compensation benefits that they deserve. Studies indicate that a large number of employers encourage their employees to cover up injuries.
